THROAT (Laryngology)

Laryngology is a specialized branch of otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat medicine) that focuses on the disorders, diseases, and functions of the larynx (voice box) and related structures in the throat.

The larynx is a vital organ responsible for producing sound, protecting the airway during swallowing, and facilitating breathing. Laryngologists diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, including voice disorders, throat infections, vocal cord paralysis, acid reflux-related throat issues, and cancers of the larynx. Advanced diagnostic tools like laryngoscopy, stroboscopy, and imaging techniques are often used to assess these conditions. Treatments may involve medication, therapy (e.g., voice therapy), or surgery, depending on the severity of the problem.
